about billy van creamy
REAL ICE CREAM. NO FUNNY STUFF.
HAND-MADE
Billy van Creamy is made in-store, by hand. Each flavour has its own individual recipe and variation is an ode to what’s good!
QUALITY DAIRY
We use organic milk from Schultz Organics and source fresh cream from micro-producer, St David Dairy, located in Fitzroy.
FRESH INGREDIENTS
Our flavour is real. We source high quality, whole, seasonal ingredients – no bought in pastes or bases. Instead you’ll find us pitting fruit, washing fresh mint, grinding nuts and crafting our own jams and sauces.
NO STABILSERS OR EMULSIFIERS
You won’t find anything ‘funny’ in this ice cream – no artificial stabilisers, emulsifiers, colours or flavours! We use free-range egg yolks instead.
VEGAN FLAVOURS
We also offer creamy vegan flavours that we churn with our own cashew and coconut milk blend – some (non-vegans) say they even trump the dairy flavours!
OUR STORY
Billy van Creamy was founded in 2014 when brothers Alex and Mitch Wells rolled their ice cream truck up to the curb-side of Rucker’s Hill in Northcote. Back then they were churning their ice cream in the kitchen of the local bowls club – Thornbury Bowls. In 2015 they opened their first store in Fitzroy North, Melbourne and in 2018 with Alex and his family moving back home came the second store in Northbridge, Perth. Since the beginning their vision has be the same – to make ice cream the old school way using four core ingredients - milk, cream, eggs and raw sugar!
SUSTAINABILITY
At Billy van Creamy we’re committed to sustainability and limiting our environmental impact. We source organic ingredients from small producers and limit our waste by offering tasters using stainless steel spoons, ceramic cups to dine-in, and ‘BYO container’ for takeaway. Our milk is supplied in large bladders rather than small 2-litre bottles and we are constantly trying to find better ways of reducing and disposing of our waste.
